Second Abuse Victim Comes Forward

EUGENE, Ore. — Another alleged victim came forward Tuesday, following accusations that a former Eugene pastor sexually abused children.

That man is suing the United Methodist Church for neglecting to protect victims from a sexual predator and child molester.

He says he was sexually abused by Bill Walker, who served as pastor at the Eugene First United Methodist Church from 1982 until he died in 1992 from complications due to aids.

The current pastor at the United Methodist Church says leadership is trying to move on and take the congregation’s safety very seriously.

“We have an approved safe sanctuary policy. It is to safeguard children, youth and vulnerable adults,” said Debbie Pitney, United Methodist Church Pastor.

The alleged victim’s attorney says his client hopes the lawsuit will empower other victims to come forward.
