Sen. Wyden Presents Museum with Flag

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Air and Space Museum received two special flags Saturday. Senator Ron Wyden presented the museum with a flag that was formerly flown at the U.S. Capitol building.

The local VFW also presented a prisoner of war flag to the museum. Mayor Kitty Piercy along with around 150 people showed up for the ceremonies.

Wyden said it wasn’t hard to get the flag for the museum. “Certainly we wanted to make sure this aspect of the science and education and aviation got the attention and the visibility it deserves,” said Wyden.

The museum can fly the prisoner of war flag any day of the year, but it is required to fly it six days out of the year. These days include Veterans’ Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
