Sergeant to Honor Those Lost in 9/11

EUGENE, Ore. — In honor of those lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Lane County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Loren Corner will play Taps in front of the Lane County Jail, Tuesday.

Sergeant Corner will play four times at the jail’s flagpole at 5:46 a.m., 6:03 a.m., 6:37 a.m. and 7:03 a.m., in recognition of when the four planes crashed on September 11th, 2001.

Sergeant Corner has been a member of the Lane County Sheriff’s Office since 1988 and is an active member of the Bugles Across America, a volunteer organization playing Taps for military funerals. He has performed Taps for several fallen local police officers and at state memorials for fallen police officers and fire fighters.

In 2011, Sergeant Corner and 200 other buglers from Bugles Across America, played Taps on September 11th in memorial to those lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack.
