SUTHERLIN, Ore. — Oregon State Police is continuing its investigation into a serious injury crash on northbound I-5, Tuesday.
Troopers say around 8:50 p.m., a 1985 Dodge pickup driven by Joseph Reitmeier, 30, of Medford, was northbound on I-5 when the right rear tire blew out. The pickup spun into the center concrete divider and came to a stop facing the wrong way.
OSP says the pickup was struck nearly head-on by a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Christina Daniels, 40, of Drain. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the northbound lanes.
Daniels was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries. Reitmeier didn’t sustain injuries requiring hospital transport.
Both northbound lanes were closed for two hours, while crews worked to clear the crash.
