BROWNSVILLE, Ore. — On Saturday night, some very special guests are taking the stage alongside Brad Paisley at the Bi-Mart Willamette Country Music Festival, 250 foster and adopted children.
The event is all to bring awareness to the need for forever families for these kids. There are 10,000 children in foster care in Oregon, and 1,200 of them are in Lane County. Some researchers have found that foster kids may be more prone to PTSD than war veterans, which is why this weekend’s escape from reality means so much to them.
“This is the weekend where they can just be a kid, not have to worry about the stresses and transitions they’re going through, but just have a good weekend,” said Linzy Munger, Family for Every Child spokesperson.
Heart Gallery has placed more than a thousand foster teens and children into forever families, and when the kids take the stage on Saturday night, the gallery will show a video of some of their success stories.
