EUGENE, Ore. — Fundraising is in full swing for this year’s Great Rotary Duck Race. The race raises money to prevent child abuse. Sheppard Motors hosted its largest ever bbq in support of the race Saturday.
The company has been a sponsor for the event since 1989. This year the picnic included a car show, local radio coverage and free BBQ. Organizers say these events are what make the race a success.
“They’re integral to the duck race, especially the ability to publicize and get exposure, public exposure for the duck race,” said Susan Hair, Mama Duck 2011 Organizer. “It’s huge, especially Sheppard Motors. They’ve been a prized donor for so many years throughout the duck race.”
