EUGENE, Ore. — The public had an opportunity Wednesday to ask a panel of Lane County experts about how they’re keeping schools safe.
Northwest Christian University hosted the safety forum.
Lane County Sheriff Tom Turner was the moderator, asking experts about how they’re staying prepared in case of an emergency at a school.
“Hopefully the trend is going down, but you still see instances every year,” said Turner. “You see a couple, and that’s the kind of thing, if people are talking together, you have the community working together, you have the area professionals working together, you’re going to be able to come up with plans.”
Sheriff Turner says law enforcement works with K-12 schools and colleges throughout the state.
