NEWTOWN, Conn. — [UPDATE 1:48 p.m.] Sources tell ABC News that the gunman was Adam Lanza, 20, not his brother, Ryan. However, Connecticut State Police have not confirmed that.
[UPDATE 1:36 p.m.] President Obama has ordered all flags in the U.S. to be flown at half staff.
[UPDATE 12:48 p.m.] According to police during the latest press briefing, 26 people are dead, one person is injured and the shooter is dead. There was also another person at a secondary crime scene found dead. Police plan to address the media again in about an hour.
[UPDATE 11:34 a.m.] Connecticut school shooting gunman is a man named Ryan Lanza of New Jersey; dead body also found in his home officials say. Lanza’s mother was found among the dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
[UPDATE: 11:20 a.m.] CNN.com is reporting the shooter’s name is Ryan Lanza, and he is in his 20s.
[UPDATE 10:48 a.m.] A press conference was held this morning with updated information on the shooting that occurred at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.
Police said the gunman is deceased inside the school and police have secured the scene. Police report that there were fatalities of both students and staff, but exact numbers on how many are dead will not be released by authorities until “proper notifications have been made”.
It was also stated at the press conference that President Obama called the Governor of Connecticut to express his condolences.

CNN reports “close to 20″ people are dead, at least 10 are reportedly children, according to a law enforcement source speaking to CNN. CNN staff reports hearing the school’s principal was among those killed.
ABC News reports “more than 20″ are dead, most of them are young children, according to law enforcement sources.
Danbury Hospital confirms three people arrived there from Sandy Hook Elementary. A source with knowledge of the investigation tells CNN the suspected shooter is dead. It’s not clear if police shot the suspect.
