CRESWELL, Ore. — After a six-hour manhunt that spanned from Junction City to Creswell, police say they have a suspected gunman in custody.
The Lane County District Attorney’s Office isn’t releasing the man’s name at this time, and no charges have been filed.
Police say the suspect barricaded himself inside a trailer at Creswell Court on North Mill Street. Lane County sheriff’s deputies took him into custody at about 7 a.m. Monday.
Armored vehicles and officers, armed with assault rifles, swarmed the residence and ordered him to surrender.
“What we ended up doing was utilize one of our rescue vehicles and we made contact with a PA system, and as soon as we did, that person of interest came out,” said Sgt. Carrie Carver, Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect is wanted for shooting a woman in the head in Junction City. She’s expected to survive her injuries.
Police also took three children into protective custody.
Investigators are looking into a motive for the shooting.
Update — Police were questioning the suspect as of 8 a.m.
CRESWELL, Ore. — Police say a shooting suspect was barricaded inside a trailer on the corner of Nolan and Pearce in Creswell. Oregon State Police was on the scene with assault rifles around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
It all started around 12:30 a.m. Monday near West 12th Ave. and Juniper St. in Junction City. Police responded to find a victim with gunshot wounds. The victim, a 26-year-old woman, is expected to survive.
Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. The area was blocked off to passersby.
