Shots Fired in Capitol Hill Area

(CNN) — Emergency vehicles swarmed the area of the U.S. Capitol on Thursday after an order given over the speaker system told people to shelter in place because of an active shooting situation.

Sources tell CNN the situation involved a car chase that ended at the Capitol.

The Capitol building went on lockdown immediately.

Sources tell CNN that the female driver led police on a chase. When she got out of the car, she was shot and killed.

One police officer was injured in some sort of collision. The officer was taken to the hospital. The officer’s injuries are unknown.
