EUGENE, Ore. — Police arrested a man after they say he fired at least seven shots outside the Walmart on Green Acres.

Officers responded about 10:00 p.m. Thursday night.  They say employees heard several gunshots outside.

When the manager went to see what happened the suspect allegedly fired into the air again and then ran. Police found him hiding a short time later. He still had a gun several magazines and ammo.

Officers were still talking to witnesses after the shooting, but they don’t think anyone inside was ever in danger, including the store manager.

“We asked the employees if they ever felt menaced or in any danger. He didn’t feel that way. He kind of hid because rounds were being fired. At least at the store, he wasn’t pointing the firearm at anyone at all,” said Lt. Bill Solesbee with the Eugene Police Department.

The man faces several charges including unlawful use of a weapon. Walmart briefly went into a self-imposed lockdown. Police say the suspect has a history of mental illness.

I’m so damn tired of hearing about lock-downs at stores, schools, you name it!

Only prisons lock down, period! Everyone else closes….

Get it straight you fear mongering, sensationalist knuckleheads …

Maybe he bought the gun at Wal-mart.

  3. DickG says:

He couldn’t buy a firearm from Walmart. Walmart has an FFL All sales by an FFL’ MUST involve a background check which would have reveled him to be ineligible.
A guy with a meth habit more than likely stole the weapon.
    We’ll see.
