SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield High School is giving away prom dresses, and it’s hosting an event to try on the gowns this Friday.
The program got started about four years ago. It’s designed to help students who can’t afford prom wear. Students say it feels good to give back to their peers.
“It really helps out, and we don’t always get to see the students face-to-face and have a really personal relationship with them, but I still connect with them even though I don’t know them because I know that they’re appreciative of what we’ve given and what we’ve really put our hard work into,” said Springfield High School junior Victoria Kurtz.
Community members and Blush Bridal donated about 40 dresses, but organizers are still accepting formal wear donations for girls and boys.
The try-on event is Friday, April 5 at Brattain House, located at 1030 G Street, from 4-6 p.m.
