Although it’s been legal to use snow tires for more than a month already, many people wait until the first snow storm to hit up their local tire shop for snow tires and chains.
One man we spoke to owns a limo service and said it was an absolute necessity to insure the security of his passengers. Another customer had a doctor’s appointment early and decided that if he didn’t get tires on his way home, he might be stuck there all weekend. Skiers and snowboarders heading into the Cascades lined up early so as not to miss out on the best snow of the young season.
Tire stores weren’t the only ones busy though. A local towing company said they were running at least two and one-half hours late due to the more than 250 reported crashes through the first 12 hours of the storm.
