METEOROLOGIST MELISSA FREY’S FORECAST DISCUSSION:
The snow started falling late Wednesday across the western Oregon Cascades and overnight for many locations across western Oregon. Most valley locations saw rain/snow mix, with some areas seeing an inch of snow by about 8 a.m. The Cascade passes picked up 8 to 10 inches overnight, with another 1 – 3 on the way today.
The freezing level is going to hold at about 1,000 feet. Showers will continue off and on throughout the day. The hills will end up with 1-3 inches while the valley will see snow/rain mix before seeing brief snow showers later tonight.
By Friday afternoon most of the precipitation will be over, but the chilly air will remain. Overnight lows will fall to the low 30s.
