Chief Meteorologist Justin Stapleton‘s Daily Forecast Discussion:
A very noticeable 20-degree change at the coast today as the ocean air once again takes over. Highs only in the 50s and low 60s, tonight the cool air will move back into the valleys so expect to see a cloudy AM. Cooler for many with lows falling back into the mid 40s.
Friday will be almost perfect, west winds keeping the 80s off of just about everywhere, highs in the mid to low 70s, low 60s at the coast. Meanwhile, the low pressure storm is slowly gathering some steam sending some clouds across the state today, but the showers will hold off until the weekend.
Showers will be back Saturday afternoon and evening and on and off all day Sunday. As you likely guessed, it’ll be cooler too with highs in the mid to lower 60s. Major shift (for a day anyway) for the Cascades. Freezing levels will drop to around 5000 feet and showers will mix some wet snowflakes at Pass level on and off Sunday. It doesn’t look like there will be any accumulating snow so traveling shouldn’t be a problem.
But it’ll be a quick cooldown, as indications are we’ll see high pressure back and sunny by midweek next week. By next Wednesday, highs will be back in the 70s and possibly near 80 going into next weekend.
Have a great Thursday night!
