SPD Searches for Shooting Suspect

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The search is on for a man accused of shooting his girlfriend early Thursday morning.

At about 2:30 a.m., Springfield police got a call from Gateway Mall security reporting a woman was injured in the parking lot, asking for police.

When officers arrived, they found the victim had been shot in the lower leg. Police say the shooting happened on the 2800 block of Fiesta Drive. They say the suspect is the victim’s boyfriend. Somehow the victim was able to get herself to the mall parking lot after being shot.

“There was a confrontation in the driveway and a dispute about property is what originally we reported,” said Sgt. Dave Lewis, Springfield Police Department.

Police will not say what that property was.

The suspect is described as black, 6’2″ tall and weighing about 300 pounds. He was last seen driving a black Cadillac Deville, but police think he may have switched vehicles.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Springfield Police.
