The Eugene Fire Department responded to the store just before 1 p.m. to find a small fire between the second floor ceiling and roof of the building. By the time fire crews responded, the store’s sprinkler system kicked in and had extinguished the fire. Crews say there was some water damage to merchandise.
“We had two truck companies, four engine companies responded to the scene because it’s a commercial fire, so a lot of lights and sirens initially. Fortunately EPD was helping with traffic control,” said Jeff Kronser, Eugene Fire Department Battalion Chief.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
