Spring Game Collects Food Donations

EUGENE, Ore. — The Ducks’ Spring Game this weekend did more than just crank up school spirit, it also raised thousands of pounds of food for Food for Lane County.

The price of admission into Autzen Saturday was a few cans of food. This year, Duck fans donated more than 66,000 pounds of canned food along with cash.

While attendance at the game was down this year, it didn’t stop the nonprofit from getting the support it was looking for.

“We got about $1,650, which will provide 6,600 pounds. So that really did help us out and will allow us to meet the need in the community,” said Alicia Hines, Food for Lane County Coordinator.

Food for Lane County says you can also donate by leaving canned food by your mailbox on Saturday, May 11 during the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive.
