Spring Game Benefits FFLC

EUGENE, Ore. — The Ducks’ Spring Game got everyone excited for football Saturday, while helping Food For Lane County collect thousands of pounds of food.

The price of admission for the Ducks’ return to the field was canned food. FFLC collected non-perishable food items as fans made their way into Autzen Stadium for the first time since December. The organization says this is its second largest food drive of the year.

FFLC says more people rely on the food bank than many people think; it gives out 30,000 pounds of food a day to those who need assistance.

“There are definitely lots of people right here in our community, neighbors, friends, people that you know probably, that find themselves in a position where they need to come to food assistance. And that’s what we’re here for,” said Alicia Hines, Food For Lane County Food Resource Coordinator.

FFLC says that 39 percent of people living in Lane County are eligible for emergency food assistance.
