Springfield Bridge Repair

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Willamette River Bridge in Springfield is being repaired after the structure was damaged in a high speed chase in November.

Construction on the bridge connecting Springfield to Glenwood starts Tuesday and traffic will be restricted to one lane, going westbound, until 3:30 in the afternoon.

ODOT says they initially thought more work needed to be done but it won’t be necessary.

“We thought at first we were going to have to replace some of those components, structural components. As it turns out, we think we can go in and apply some heat and straighten those components and repair them and not replace them,” said Rick Little, ODOT spokesperson.

Rhe closure will not affect the two lanes traveling on the eastbound bridge.

Work should be finished up Thursday.
