Springfield Fire Captain Retires

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A Springfield fire captain retired Thursday after 36 and a half years of service.

Captain Jerry Hall and his family took a “victory lap” in a fire truck, making stops at all five Springfield stations. Firefighters were there to meet and congratulate him.

Captain Hall says it will be hard not coming to work anymore, but he’s confident in the remainder of the department and their future.

“Working as a firefighter, it takes a toll on people. You have a lot of people with back injuries after they retire out, but hopefully they will all have long and healthy careers,” Hall said.

Captain Hall says he’s most excited to spend all of his new free time with his wife, children and five grandchildren.
