Springfield Woman Dies in House Fire

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A 60-year-old woman died in a house fire in Springfield Thursday morning. Crews responded to the home at 945 N Street just after 9:30 a.m.

When fire fighters entered the home, less than five minutes after the call came in, they found a very hot fire contained to an upstairs bedroom. The woman was found dead inside.

A man was downstairs at the time of the fire, he was able to get out safely, along with a dog.  He called 911 from a neighbors home to report the fire.

Police and a medical examiner are investigating the cause of the fire. The woman’s name is expected to be released after her family is notified.
