SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The City of Springfield is looking for more sites for people looking to camp overnight inside their cars.
The Springfield Shelter Rights Alliance says people can stay at industrial sites and church parking lots, but only with the owners’ permission.
Once signed up, St. Vincent de Paul handles it from there.
“They’re the ones that do the placement that explain the rules and regulations to people who’d be staying there, and also they’re the ones who a manger can call if there is any issue whatsoever,” said Marion Malcolm of the Springfield Shelter Rights Alliance.
Two Springfield churches are already on board, but the alliance would like to have 10.
