Springfield Park Bond Passes

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Willamalane’s Measure 20-199 is asking voters for $20 million to improve 10 Springfield parks.

Voters decided to pass the bond, 51 percent to 49 percent.

Supporters say they put a lot of thought into this issue and really stepped up efforts to get it passed, including picketing during morning and evening drive times.

“We know it’s a tough time to ask for money. We’re very aware of that, and we give that a lot of thought before we went out with this, but we also think that the community understands what it is we’re trying to do in that we’re not asking for more than we think the community can afford that we can take on ourselves,” said Gary Ross, Willamalane Board President.
