Springfield Schools Searches for Leader

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The search for a new school superintendent in Springfield continued on Wednesday.

A group of board members and parents met for the first screening of applications.

Anyone interested in the job had to apply by last week.

The position was left open by Dr. Nancy Golden. She announced she’s stepping down at the end of the year.

With such a proud legacy behind her, the chosen candidate will have big shoes to fill.

“We feel that there are candidates out there who will probably accept that as a challenge and will come in and be the next great superintendent of Springfield Public Schools,” said Jonathan Light, Springfield School District Board Chair.

While there’s no specific deadline set, the board hopes to pick the next superintendent by spring break.
