Springfield Students Paint Mural

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Students from the Springfield Academy of Arts and Academics are teaching history while making art.

A local business owner commissioned seniors to paint a mural. It’s inside the Washburne Cafe on Main Street.

The class had to research the building’s back story to come up with a concept that portrayed its rich history.

“It’s really cool to me. I really like working with these people, and it felt good to get called in and do something in the public. A3 likes to reach out to the community quite a lot and it’s good to know that they trust me to work on something like this. That’s kind of cool,” said student artist Collin Christensen.

The mural is set to be completed and ready for public viewing by next Friday’s art walk.
