Springfield Superintendent to Retire

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — She came, she conquered, and the Springfield Public Schools superintendent has announced she’s leaving.

Nancy Golden announced Monday she’s retiring at the end of the school year.

Golden has served as superintendent for 10 years, and during that time she’s been recognized numerous times for her leadership.

She was named Oregon’s 2011 Superintendent of the Year, serving as Governor Kitzhaber’s education policy adviser for six months.

You may also remember in May 2011, Golden asked for a pay cut to help with the district’s ailing budget.
