Springfield Welcomes New Police Chief

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The City of Springfield is officially welcoming its new police chief.

City leaders will swear in Tim Doney Wednesday morning at the Springfield Justice Center.

The longtime Oregonian has served at the Medford Police Department for more than 25 years.

The city chose Doney following a lengthy hiring process that included more than 50 applicants.

Former Chief Jerry Smith stepped down following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
