Springfield Woman Killed in Car Crash

LANE COUNTY, Ore– A Springfield woman is dead after a high-speed crash on River Road near Brown’s Landing.

Lane County Sheriff’s have confirmed Morgan Tara Marie Smither, 26, was driving north on River Road at a high rate of speed.

Just before 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, she lost control of her Ford Explorer, slammed into a power pole, shearing it near the base. The  vehicle then rolled multiple times before coming to a rest in the middle of the road.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash also knocked out power to some residents homes. EPUD crews are working to repair the damaged pole.

Minutes before the crash, ¬†Sheriff’s Deputies received several calls regarding the same vehicle speeding.

There is no indication alcohol was a factor.

    according to her facebook page it looks like she has a 6mo old son? Does anyone know if he was breastfeeding? If so and if the family is interested i have some extra of mine that i would love to donate for him! Sorry if this seems weird but i am just trying to help!

      oh, my bad… after looking closer it looks like her son must be 1 YR +6mo old…. nevermind, im sure he’s eating solid food ;) My sympathy goes out to the family and friends of this girl and so sad that this little boy has lost his mommy :(
