JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — Nearly 200 people turned out for a job fair in Junction City Wednesday, hoping to land a position with the Oregon State Hospital when it opens next year.
The hospital will employ more than 500 people when it’s fully operational, most from around the area.
Potential employees made their way to the First Baptist Church.
Hiring coordinators say they’re looking to fill all kinds of positions, including food services, security, administrative staff, nurses and doctors.
And while the project has been controversial, residents say things appear to be coming together and they’re looking forward to opening day.
“I’m just happy that it’s coming and it’s going to provide a lot of jobs for a lot of people and the fact that the facility itself for people that need it,” said Junction City resident Tammy Bell.
The hospital will be home to a 174-bed psychiatric facility and is set to open next spring.
