SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A new state program is offering homeowners up to $30,000 in mortgage assistance.
The home rescue program launched in some counties earlier this month, but goes statewide starting Wednesday.
The Neighborhood Economic and Development Corporation is one group that can help in the process.
NEDCO says it’s important for those in need take advantage of these opportunities.
“We know that there are still thousands of homeowners across Oregon and even thousands within Lane County who are behind on their mortgage and struggling to make those payments. And it’s so crucial for the housing recovery and economic recovery for our state for people who need it to reach out and get that help,” said Emily Reiman, Opportunityworks Coordinator.
NEDCO says the application process opens up every two weeks, but the slots fill up within minutes. Those interested should log on at least five minutes before noon, so they can press send right at 12 when the slots become available.
