Stepdad Arrested for Coercion, ID Theft

Bryan TilleyCORVALLIS, Ore. — Police say an Oregon State University student who’s been trying to figure out who was hacking her cell phone and social media accounts knew the suspect all along.

Her stepdad, 51-year-old Bryan Tilley of Keizer, was arrested Friday on charges including coercion, identity theft and burglary.

Police say for the past four months his 22-year-old stepdaughter had lost control of her social media pages and discovered someone was monitoring her cell phone. They say on New Year’s he broke into her home and poured out a bottle of tequila.

“Investigators later determined that it was in fact Mr. Tilley who had accessed the victim’s apartment without her permission using a key that she didn’t know that he had,” said Lt. Cord Wood, Corvallis Police Department.

Tilley’s bail was set for more than $200,000. He was released Sunday after posting his 10 percent bond.
