JUNCTION CITY, Ore.– A street in Junction City will be named after Andrea Post, who was tragically killed two years ago. The street is near the prison that’s going to be built next to the mental hospital off Milliron Road. Family and friends petitioned for that location because Post wanted to be a corrections officer at the prison and she dreamed of helping those that suffered from mental illness. She went by the name “Drea” and the street will be called “Dreas Way”.
“It puts a smile on my face knowing that people going and coming to that hospital will have to take Dreas Way in order to get to and from the hospital and I think that she’s smiling down on it because she really cared for people that other people wouldn’t usually care for,” said Vanessa Dodds, one of Post’s close friends.
Post was killed in a car accident on August 3, 2011 when a motorhome drove off a highway and hit her car. It happened on Hatton Lane on Highway 99. Family and friends continue to leave flowers, momentos and written messages at a memorial there.
