Students Go on One-Minute Shopping Spree

food driveEUGENE, Ore. — About 10 students from Kelly Middle School went on a free one-minute shopping spree, grabbing as many cans as they could in just one minute.

It was a rush to get to the register, but no money needed. Grocery Outlet on River Road helped with the fundraiser for Food for Lane County.

Olivia’s older brother, who attends North Eugene High School, took part in a similar fundraiser, and it inspired her to do the same.

“School isn’t just about learning. It’s also about helping other people, and I think it’s just a great cause,” said seventh grader Olivia Frost.

“It’s going to help more than we think because some people don’t even have money for shelter,” said seventh grader Savannah Morrison.

Altogether, they raised just more than $600 worth of canned food.
