Students Learn About Grass Farming

video preview image

HARRISBURG, Ore. — Linn County bills itself as the “Grass Seed Capital of the World,” and some first graders at Harrisburg Elementary School got a first-hand look at grass farming on Thursday.

Nick Bowers of Harrisburg grows grass seed, wheat, clover, and meadowfoam. He showed the kids at Harrisburg Elementary some of the heavy machinery he uses to farm, and helped them plant grass seeds of their own.

Bowers goes around to area schools once a year.
