Students Unveil Human Rights Mural

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — A ceremony will take place Tuesday night at Junction City High School to unveil a new display of human rights history in its hallways.

The group that organizes events on Cesar Chavez Day at the high school came up with the idea and teamed up with a local muralist and the after school program. Their efforts created a mural.

“When we presented this out in an assembly, a lot of people were really surprised because they didn’t think it was going to come out this good,” said student Alejandra Gonzalez.

“We don’t have very much art around our school, or murals like this, so I think it’s the start of more and more art going up in our school, not just white walls anymore,” said student Jessica Gonzalez

The unveiling ceremony runs until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
