Students Volunteer at Sawyer House

EUGENE, Ore. — Students at Emerald Christian Academy went on a field trip Wednesday that staff say will hopefully help them learn about more than just math and reading.

Principal Sheldon Eakins says they do a couple of service projects every year, and this is their way of giving back.

Dozens of students spent the day at Sawyer House on Goodpasture Island Road and helped with a number of different projects.

“We have some that are planting bulbs in the garden. We have some that are washing windows and cleaning out the busses, cleaning off the tables and spending time with the residents here with the residents at Sawyer House,” Eakins said.

He says the projects are important because they help show students to give back and help others at a young age.
