Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:
Happy back to school for everyone in the 4J school district! It hardly looks like back to school weather!
We’re likely looking at our 19th day this year over 90° today and our 20th tomorrow. This is the sixth hottest summer on record for Eugene and September is following suit with June, July and August. This is also still the driest year to date that we’ve ever recorded.
A large ridge of high pressure has set up shop over western Oregon. This means clear skies and off shore flow after brief morning fog. Highs in the valley will be in the low 90s Tuesday and Wednesday and upper 80s Thursday.
The Coast will also get a break from the clouds and cool temps. Aside from some morning fog, it’ll be mostly sunny at the coast with highs in the 70s. The Umpqua Basin will see mid 90s today and tomorrow and low 90s again on Thursday.
Even the Cascades will be warmer than usual. Highs near Willamette Pass will be in the low 80s today through Thursday.
Stay cool and have a great Tuesday!
