Chief Meteorologist Justin Stapleton‘s Nightly Forecast Discussion:
**Wildfire information: Oregon Wildfires ***
A wild afternoon of thunderstorms and heavy rain across Western Oregon today and tonight! Many spots saw more rain than they’ve seen all summer in a matter of hours including:
– Corvallis: 2.07″ (12 hour)
– Turner: 2.80″ (6 hour)
– Springfield: 1.69″ (1 hour!!)
Overnight, the low has moved onshore so the severe weather will push up into Washington, while the thunderstorms across Western Oregon will slowly wind down. I’ll keep a chance for some showers through Friday morning, but after that, skies slowly start to clear for a return to a much warmer and sunnier weekend forecast. Highs will warm back into the mid to upper 70s Friday.
By the weekend, high pressure moves back in as the low swings into Washington, putting Western Oregon under sunny skies by Saturday and highs jumping back up into the mid to upper 80s. The warm weather and sunshine holds well into next week as well. Summer weather isn’t done with the Pacific Northwest just yet!
Have a great Friday!
