Justin’s Wednesday Night Forecast Discussion:
Isaac has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm but is still dumping inches of rain in Louisiana and Mississippi, along with tornadoes through much of Southern Mississippi. It’s even affecting the Northwest as the Beavers home opener has been cancelled because the opponent, Nichole State, is stuck in Louisiana. For details on where Isaac is headed over the weekend, here is the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center: ISAAC
Overnight, we’ll start off with cloudy skies to start things on Thursday but that will be short-lived as most spots (including the coast) will break up the clouds and be back to sunny skies for the afternoon. Highs holding near the upper 70s and low 80s, similar to Wednesday.
By Friday and into the weekend, high pressure once again regains control and we’ll be sunny basically from sunrise to sunset and I’m expecting highs to start to climb back into low 80s by Saturday and Sunday in the valley and mid 80s in the Umpqua. Friday night high school games along with the Duck season opener on Saturday should be just fine!
Early next week will stay mild in the upper 70s, but early indications are a good warm up coming for the first full week of September. Both long range models are showing a big ridge over the Northwest which would push our highs back into the mid and maybe upper 80s. If so, summer’s not done yet!
Have a great Thursday!
