Superintendent Search Winding Down

high schoolMEDFORD, Ore. — There are just two candidates left in the search for a new superintendent for Medford School District.

Last week, a firm out of Iowa presented the school board with 13 candidates from all over the country. The school board then chose six candidates to come back this week. After two days of interviews, the school board chose their top two choices and said they could have their selection by the end of next Monday.

“Once we’ve seen all the candidates, we will  meet, and at that point we’re not going to score. We’ll just have a healthy discussion and try to  come to a consensus of hopefully all seven of us who clearly see our next leader for this district,” said Medford School Board Chair Jeff Thomas.

In total, several dozen candidates from 39 states applied for the position. The new superintendent will begin this summer after current superintendent Dr. Phil Long retires at the end of June.
