Suspect Threatens Eugene Police Officer

EUGENE, Ore. — One man was arrested after threatening to shoot a Eugene police officer Monday afternoon.

EPD says it all started when an off-duty officer noticed a man trespassing in his neighbor’s backyard. He confronted the man, and that’s when EPD says the man reached into his jacket and told the officer he would shoot his face off.

The officer never saw the suspect with a weapon, and the officer was unarmed at the time.

The man got away, but the same officer saw the suspect riding a bike in the area of 27th Avenue and Oak Street. Officers cornered the area, but the suspect ran away.

“That’s why a lot of officers came into that area to come and look for him. We looked all over the place, and I think we may have determined who it is based on other investigations related to this one,” said Sgt. Kevin McCormick, Eugene Police Department.

EPD says it took the suspect into custody within the last hour.
