EUGENE, Ore. — Several crews responded to a house fire in west Eugene at about 3 a.m. on Sunday.
The house, which is fire officials say is “somewhat vacant”, is located on 2500 block of Van Buren Street. The Eugene Fire Department is calling the blaze suspicious.
An hour after fire crews arrived, Eugene Police came and later arrested the homeowner, Cedrik M. Shanahan. Shanahan and his wife own the property. He is being charged with arson.
Police have not yet released if alcohol was involved.
Authorities estimate the damage to be about $147,000.
