Sweet Home Man Sentenced for Son’s Death

SWEET HOME, Ore. — A Sweet Home man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for the death of his son.

Police say Jerry Ray Milligan was drinking with his grown son Tyler, when the two got into a fight and Milligan shot Tyler in the chest.

He was originally charged with murder, but after a plea bargain, the charges were changed to criminally negligent homicide and unlawful use of a weapon.

Really? these two men (father and son) get drunk and get into a argument and the father shoots his son and has the right to plea bargain and get a lighter sentence-what about his son? he is no longer has a life. where is the justice in that-that man should have been charged
with the murder and nothing lighter-he deserves to be charged to fullest extent of the law and not have the right to be able to negotiate. In my opinon his life is no better than his sons and that he should get life with no possibility of parole if not a life for a life and while he is in his cell he should have a large picture of what he did to his son posted on his wall so he can look at it and remember-I hope he suffers and is tormented with his memories
