SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Taco Time on Gateway Street is officially no more. Crews spent the day demolishing the building to make way for a new Panda Express.
Though construction just kicked off Wednesday, those cooking up the new restaurant say it’s been in the works for about a year.
The project manager says the soon-to-be Panda Express will follow the same basic footprint as the Taco Time, but it will look pretty different, rolling out the company’s newest designs. That’s why the demolition was in order.
The company expects to capitalize on a bustling area.
“There’s a lot of traffic there. It looks like a really good location, and it’s the type of location we’ve had a lot of success in,” said Derek Knight, the project manager.
Knight adds the other Panda Express locations in Oregon typically do great business and thinks this location will follow suit. He says with a fast-paced construction schedule, the restaurant should be open come November.
