Task Force to Study Emerald Meadows

EUGENE, Ore. — The Lane County Board of Commissioners talked about Emerald Meadows, Tuesday, where a controversial concert was held over the summer.

Lane County Public Works is in charge of forming a task force to study using the Eugene park as a future events center. Neighbors in the area are against it. Commissioners say there are a number of factors that go into making that decision.

“We need to define the facility, and how we define that facility involves at a greater level I believe the neighborhood that’s directly impacted,” said Faye Stewart, Lane County Commissioner.

The task force will conduct a traffic study and look at the environmental impact events have on Emerald Meadows. Commissioner Sid Leiken says it’s important to consider the same questions with all venues in Lane County.
