EUGENE, Ore. – It was a big surprise for an elementary school teacher Tuesday as part of a national award.
Deanna Olson, a third grade teacher at Spring Creek Elementary, was nominated by co-workers for an award known as the A Day Made Better campaign. The campaign was founded by OfficeMax and Adopt-A-Classroom, which provides supplies to teachers.
Olson was surprised in front of her third graders with $1,000 worth of school supplies.
“I was not expecting anything. I’ve just been doing my job. I’ve been in kindergarten for 13-14 years and just recently moved up to third grade. It’s been a great transition. I’m loving every minute of it,” Olson said.
Olson says this is a big motivator for her and her students and is excited to share it all with them. Another teacher from Adams Elementary School received the same award.
