Teen Hit by Grandmother’s Car

MYRTLE POINT, Ore. — A Coos County teenager is recovering after being hit by a car driven by his own grandmother.

Investigators say on Sunday afternoon, 19-year-old Bobby Cruse was walking on Pleasant Valley Lane near his home.

They say his grandmother, 60-year-old Patricia Cruse, crested over a rise in the roadway and didn’t have much time to try to avoid her grandson. They say she swerved, went into a ditch, then backed up on the road and struck the teen.

Cruse was knocked 25 feet off the road and suffered a broken femur and abrasions.

The investigation is continuing.
