The school’s entire campus is put to use including the classrooms which double as finance and logistical offices.
Behind a lot of that coordination is the California Conservation Corps. Made up of teens from around the state, these volunteers help make sure firefighters are fed once camp is established.
The youth providing thousands of lunches and make sure the firefighters have water, Gatorade and plenty of ice.
The teens who sign up usually devote a year to the program. They are sent all over the state to natural disasters, large scale events, and conservation projects. During that time students can work toward their GED with on site charter schools.
