(CNN) — The chairmen of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees have reached a tentative agreement on a bill to reform the VA health system.
That’s according to aides of the two chairmen, Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Jeff Miller. The VA has been rocked by reports of delays in care for veterans at its medical facilities.
The preliminary reform deal comes just days before congress is scheduled to leave on its August recess. It still needs to be approved by both the House and Senate.
Sanders and Miller have planned a Monday news conference to outline the agreement.
